New MSc in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences Launched at UCC

29 May 2024

A new MSc in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences has been launched by the School of Pharmacy. Graduates of the HCI Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences who have achieved a Second Class Honours Grade 1 or above are eligible to complete the 30-credit dissertation module to achieve the MSc.

The 30-credit dissertation module offers practical experience through research projects relevant to the pharmaceutical industry, typically conducted during placements with industrial partners or in academic research settings.

Course Director Dr. Patrick O’Dwyer commented, “We’re really excited to launch the MSc in Pharmaceutical Regulatory Sciences as a follow-on from the successful launch of the Postgraduate Diploma in 2020. This allows students to complete innovative research projects on new tools, standards, and approaches to assess the safety, efficacy, quality, and performance of drug products. Our graduates are highly sought after, and the launch of this MSc is timely with the recent publication of the ‘Skills for Biopharma’ report, highlighting the current and emerging skills needs of the sector in regulatory and quality roles. Additionally, the report highlights emerging areas in the sector, such as new therapies like ATMPs and Big Data, which are integrated into specific modules in the programme.”
