UCC rises again in the QS World University Rankings

  • UCC up 19 places to 273 of the 5,663 evaluated institutions in the 21st Edition of the QS World University Rankings. The final published ranking has been limited to the top 1,503 universities. 
  • UCC’s highest rank since 2015. 
  • UCC strong performance across the nineindicators used to rank the universities with particular strengths for internationalisation and sustainability. 

University College Cork (UCC) has risen nineteen places in one of the world’s leading education rankings. It comes on the back of an eleven-place improvement last year.

The 2024/2025 edition of the QS World University Rankings, released today by global higher education analyst Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) sees UCC placed 273 in the world.

QS rated UCC highly across the board, with particular strengths for sustainability, internationalisation and reputation with graduate employers.

This independent assessment examines the universities against indicators relating to academic reputation, employer reputation, internationalisation, teaching, research, sustainability as well as the employment outcomes of the graduates.

The ranking itself continues to grow with 5,663 institutions analysed and 1,503 universities across 106 locations, making the final published listing.

UCC President Prof. John O’Halloran welcomed UCC’s further improvement in the rankings, stating:

“A university is about its people; our students, staff, our UCC community, both local and global. I am very pleased that the ongoing dedication and commitment of our excellent staff to our students has been recognised by an improved showing in the QS rankings. It is particularly encouraging that our global engagement and reputation with graduate employers has been noted. While UCC research and work in the advancement of sustainability continues to be acknowledged as world-leading.”
