Doctoral Researcher Phil Maguire @ Zeitgeist Irland 2024

Happening On 12/10/2024

Department of Music doctoral researcher and Senior Technical Officer Phil Maguire will launch his new CD, faint red / pencil lines on Farpoint Recordings at Anima Mundi #5, a series by Errant Sound that is part of Cultúr Éireann's Zeitgeist Irland 24 festival in Berlin. Phil will perform at Morphine Raum on 12th October.

Phil's work draws from extensive experience composing, performing, and presenting works across the spectrum of Minimalism. At the core of Maguire’s work is an exploration of continous yet almost imperceptible movement in sound. He places timbre under the microscope in order to examine fine details of sound over extended durations. In doing so, he invites the listener to engage deeply with electronic sound, uncovering moments of stillness that enable profound and personal experiences.

Cultúr Éireann:

Anima Mundi is a European exchange project and network of non-profit organisations for sound art and contemporary music from Germany, Poland and Ireland that produces innovative sonic works on the experience of environmental relationships, climate change and ecological issues. Curated by Errant Sound e.V., the fifth edition of Anima Mundi will take place from 12th September to 1st November 2024 in Berlin and various parts of nearby Brandenburg, and focus on the audio walks of Irish project Sleepertown from OpenGorey. The 11 audio walks are accessible at any time during the project period via smartphone, Echoes app and headphones and can be experienced free of charge. On selected days, there will be guided tours on site for which tickets can be purchased. In addition to that, project partner Irish label Farpoint Recordings will present two label nights with works from various artists, including two new record releases.
