Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications important new strategy on research and innovation to 2030.
Prof Brian Ó Gallachóir was delighted to attend the launch of the Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications important new strategy on research and innovation.
Great to see University College Cork Energy Policy and Modelling Group research on energy systems modelling featuring in the strategy. We’ve had a strong focus in not only striving for scientific excellence in what we do but also in translating our research results into policy insights to inform, underpin and co-produce improved energy and climate policy.
I also really welcome the emphasis in the strategy on new bridging mechanisms between research and policy. It’s hugely important to increase the evidence base for policy decisions but also to build absorptive capacity within the policy system to effectively draw on this research.
