Half of the fund will be allocated to road projects in Co. Cork, including the N20 Cork to Limerick national route.
The N20 will receive a pavement overlay and other improvements. The N22 Cork-Kerry road will also receive a surface upgrade, while in Cork City, the N27 South Link road will also be upgraded.
The €10m represents the first tranche of the government's €30m fund for critical improvements. The fund is in addition to the €360m allocation to Transport Infrastructure Ireland for national roads in 2015.
