The Biochemistry and Biotechnology Society UCC hosted a careers seminar on Wednesday 9th November at 6.00 pm on the MSc in Biotechnology, as well as an insight into the roles of Biochemistry and Biotechnology Graduates in BioMarin and Janssen. 

The speakers were Professor Tommie McCarthy, Director MSc Biotechnology; Jamie Byrne Biotechnician, BioMarin and Sean Cantillon Manufacturing Process Specialist, Janssen Biologics.

The seminar was chaired by Dr Sinéad Kerins.

Professor Tommie McCarthy spoke about the structure and entry requirements of the MSc Biotechnology programme. Jamie Byrne and Sean Cantillon, who are both UCC Biochemistry and Biotechnology graduates, spoke about what it was like to do the Biotechnology masters, discussed how they secured their industrial placement, and finally outlined their roles in BioMarin and Janssen respectively.

The Biochemistry and Biotechnology Society would like to thank all the speakers for the very informative seminar, outlining the wide range of opportunities that are available in the Biotechnology sector for Biochemistry and Biotechnology graduates.
