Site Description
Killaclohane or Coill an Clocháin in Irish can be translated to mean ‘Church of the strong ford’. The religious theme plays through today with the mass rock in the middle of these woods being one of the main features of the site. Killaclohane is an old woodland site having supported woodland since the 1800’s. There are a number of majestic old specimen trees within the property. It also has a rich and diverse ground flora. Efforts are underway to restore wood to a native woodland.
