“Creative Wanderings”
To celebrate National Biodiversity Week, which runs from 17 - 26 May, the Office of Sustainability and Climate Action joined forces with the Glucksman Gallery and Cork City Council to run a special event called “Creative Wanderings” on Tuesday, 21 May 2024.
As well as highlighting the importance of biodiversity, National Biodiversity Week is also about experiencing the fun, enjoyment and spectacle of the nature that surrounds us. The event highlighted the Glucksman’s current exhibition “Groundwork:Climate Awareness in the UCC Art Collection ” as well as UCC’s newly launched Biodiversity Trail.
The guided walk highlighted how artists interpret and represent biodiversity, starting with a focus on key works within the exhibition before heading out on the trail where participants were given basic creative approaches and materials to allow them to respond to the university arboretum, wildflower meadow, and River Lee.
We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day to explore our stunning “green” campus and we’d like to thank the Glucksman and City Council for their continued collaboration.
