Sant Jordi at the 10th Cork World Book Fest

Catalan crime writer and police scientist Marc Pastor and Valencian singer-songwriter Pau Alabajos will participate in the annual Sant Jordi celebrations from 22 to 26 April.

On the occasion of the 10th World Book Fest, Catalan crime writer and police scientist Marc Pastor and Valencian singer-songwriter Pau Alabajos will participate in this annual celebration from 22 to 26 April.
 
Friday 25 April at 8pm
Pau Alabajos, Valencian singer-songwriter. He will offer a concert focused on 'The New Song' period, explaining the relationship between the songwriters and the anti-fascist movement. He will sing some of the most representative songs of that period, as well as his own songs related to the current Catalan socio-political situation.

Saturday 26 April at 2pm
Marc Pastor, Catalan writer and member of the scientific squad of the Mossos d’Esquadra, the Catalan Police force. He will talk about Noir fiction in Catalan literature, focusing on one of his novels which has been recently published in English by Pushkin Press: Barcelona Shadows (Translated from the Catalan by Mara Faye Lethem).

The 10th Cork World Book Fest is both a landmark and an opportunity to stand back and think about the years ahead. The Fest has welcomed some of the world’s great writers over the past decade, including John Banville, Amiri Baraka, Claire Keegan, Gina Moxley, Bernard O’Donoghue, Carol Ann Duffy, Derek Mahon, Edna O’Brien, Colm Toibín, Nuala ní Dhomhnaill, Pawel Huelle, Drago Jančar, Tracy K. Smith, and many more.
 
The participation of Marc Pastor and Pau Alabajos at Cork World Book Fair is organised by University College Cork and supported by the Institut Ramon Llull.
