QS Rankings 2025

UCC has been named as one of the world's top universities for the study of 29 subjects according to the latest world subject rankings produced by higher education analysts, QS Quacquarelli Symonds. This is up from 24 subjects featuring last year.
Nursing (27), Agriculture & Forestry (84), Law (94), Performing Arts (51-100) have been ranked in the top 50 and top 100 in the world.
Researchers in the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences, and School of Food & Nutritional Sciences have contributed to Agriculture and Forestry being ranked in the Top 100 globally and 2nd in Ireland.
English Language and Literature (101-150), Pharmacy & Pharmacology (101-150), Anatomy & Physiology (101-170), Modern Languages (151-200), Philosophy (151-200), make up the nine UCC subjects featuring in the top 200 globally, in their respective ranks.
Each of Archaeology, History, Modern Languages, Nursing, Geography, Materials Science, Economics & Econometrics, and Sociology improved their ranks this year.
Materials Science (401-550) has been ranked for the first time. Physics & Astronomy (351-400), Biological Sciences (201-250), and Engineering - Mechanical (351-400) have improved their overall scores.
Chemistry (301-350), Computer Science (301-350), Engineering Electrical & Electronic (201-250) and Environmental Science (301-350) have all maintained their ranking brackets.
