A JOURNAL FOR PERFORMATIVE TEACHING, LEARNING, RESEARCH

SCENARIO, founded in 2007, is a fully peer-reviewed, online journal in the area of performative teaching, learning and research.
To reach the widest possible readership, SCENARIO publishes articles primarily in English as an international lingua franca. However, thanks to the expertise of co-editors and guest editors who represent these languages, authors are also given the opportunity to submit their contributions in German (since 2007), Italian (since 2023) and French (since 2025).

It is aimed at:

  • scholars
  • teachers
  • drama/theatre-in-education specialists and
  • practitioners in performative arts disciplines.

While the journal has a distinctly interdisciplinary orientation, encouraging contributions from different peformative arts disciplines and fields of practice, it focuses especially on the role of drama and theatre in the teaching and learning of foreign/second languages, including the literatures and cultures associated with these languages.

The first issue of SCENARIO appeared on March 15th, 2007.

You can access articles from the current or previous issues or explore the site menu to find out more about the publication, including the Call for Papers.

In 2010, SCENARIO was awarded the European Language Label for its role in establishing innovative connections between the performative arts and foreign language education as well as striking new paths towards performative teaching and learning.
