Accessibility Allies Showcase Celebrates UCC’s Commitment to Inclusivity
On Wednesday, 7th August, Deputy President and Registrar Professor Stephen Byrne officially opened the Accessibility Allies Showcase, celebrating the contributions of the Inclusive UCC’s 17 student interns. Their efforts have significantly enhanced accessibility and universal design across over 120 modules at UCC.
Now in its third year, this initiative has involved over 45 interns, improving content accessibility for more than 9,500 students and boosting accessibility scores by 27%. This year marked a milestone as interns applied the new Accessible UCC template to an entire programme for the first time, setting a new standard for inclusivity.
Special thanks go to Graham Quilligan and his colleagues in Dentistry, who are collaborating with interns to standardise courses across their five-year programme. Their partnership exemplifies the kind of cross-disciplinary collaboration that is at the heart of this initiative.
We also extend our gratitude to the 50+ academic staff who have partnered with the interns this summer, helping to drive this initiative forward.
