Congratulations to Professor Christian Waeber on Prestigious Research Award

The Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics proudly congratulates Professor Christian Waeber on being named the joint winner of the Creating a Culture for Responsible Conduct of Research award. This prestigious accolade is part of the annual UCC Research & Innovation Awards, which celebrate researchers who have made exceptional and impactful contributions to research and innovation.

 

 

Professor Waeber's outstanding leadership in promoting a positive research culture, particularly in the ethical use of animals in research, has been rightfully recognised. His dedication to fostering responsible conduct in research has not only enhanced knowledge but also elevated UCC’s national and international research profile.

The UCC Research & Innovation Awards embrace excellence across the entire university research community, from all disciplines. This year, the awards recognised achievements in fifteen research categories and five innovation categories, highlighting the significant contributions made by UCC researchers and innovators to both the university and wider society.

As one of Ireland’s oldest institutes of higher education, UCC is internationally recognised for its research-led approach. The quality and recognition of research success at UCC are measured by key metrics such as publications, citations, collaborative interactions, patents, and spin-out companies. These metrics underscore the significant outputs from individuals and UCC’s Research Institutes and Centres.

Professor Waeber’s accolade is a testament to his influential work in pushing boundaries and enhancing ethical practices in research. His contributions continue to inspire and raise the standards of research excellence.
