Recipients Comments 2020

I am honoured to receive this award from UCC school of Nursing and Midwifery, and even more so to receive it in the company of an amazing team in the CSSRC. It is easy to work hard when surrounded by positivity and support and buckets of laughs. Chance made us colleagues, but life and all its ups and downs made us friends. Thank you to UCC for recognising all the hard work done by everyone involved......Stephanie Ryng

I would like to thank all the CPC's, managers and staff of the areas I've been to and all my preceptors, that have welcomed me, shared their knowledge and experiences and have thought me valuable skills over the years. I am so honoured to have received this award......Emily Hall

I am honoured  to accept this award on behalf of the Emergency Department Cork University Hospital. Thank you to UCC for the award , our colleagues in nurse practice development and our students for nominating us. This achievement is based on a culture of commitment to education , learning and caring for each other ,instilled in us by our ADON’s Siobhan Scanlon and Norma O’Sullivan. Supported by Helen Cahalane DON ,our Emergency Medicine clinical Lead Dr Deasy, and medical colleagues. Acted out on a daily basis by our extremely dedicated nurses, clinical nurse managers and clinical skills facilitators throughout the years. A sincere thank you from myself ...Diarmuid Nolan CNM3 and all the ED team.

I feel so lucky to be even considered for this award, it truly is a great end to an amazing 4 and a half years in UCC. I recently began working as a staff nurse on 3D ward in CUH and I’m loving the new challenges faced everyday, despite all the recent circumstances!  To say I would not be the person I am today without my time as a nursing student in UCC would be an huge understatement. I have learnt skills and lessons for life, along with forging friendships that will last forever. Being a nurse can be challenging at times but I’ve learned that even on the toughest of days,.. if you can leave your shift knowing you contributed positively to someone else’s care... then every tough days is worth it!....Casey O'Sullivan

Thank you so much to the CUH Paediatric Nurse Practice Development Unit for nominating me for this award.  Along with the amazing staff in UCC,  they have been fantastic mentors who supported me throughout the 5 years. Even now, working as a qualified nurse in CUH ED, they still check in on me and my friends. I have absolutely loved my time here in UCC and I am honoured to receive this award.....Caoimhe Hennigan

I am delighted to have receive this award. To have played a part in assisting a vulnerable patient cohort during this pandemic fills me with immense pride. I am now on placement in Brookfield and to witness first hand the Nursing and Midwifery school facilities being used for real, makes me proud to be a UCC student nurse....David Fitzgerald
