Art to inspire launches

26 Feb 2015
Created by artist Miriam Creagh

Art to Inspire is an exhibition of artwork by students enrolled in UCC’s Certificate in Contemporary Living running in the Glucksman until 1 March 2015.

The works on display include paintings to collage, sculpture and prints. Created over a five-week period, these artworks demonstrate the learning experience of student whilst working at the Glucksman Gallery and the expressive talents of the group.

As part of the expressive arts module, students were introduced to the visual arts at the Glucksman. Each week students studied artists of the 20th and 21st century who overcame adversity to pursue a life of creativity.

Inspired by these artists, students created their own artworks that are on view in the gallery until 1 March 2015.

The Certificate in Contemporary Living (CCL) is a two-year education programme for people with intellectual disabilities designed for delivery in a third-level education setting. It focuses on helping students develop strategic skills to promote self-reliance and independence and increased participation in contemporary society.
