The CIMA GBC 2011, which is being held in partnership with Barclays and local sponsors BPP, is an international business management competition designed to bring out the best in potential business leaders among young people. The competition is designed to test the business management skills of participants. Teams were initially provided with a case study describing CeeCee, a fictional fashion retailer. Teams are required to analyse this in advance and conduct research into the general business context in which the case is set. On the day of the competition teams respond to a number of previously unseen events. Within a three-hour timeframe, they are expected to assimilate the additional information, prepare and deliver a 20 minute presentation of their analysis and recommendations and participate in a question and answer session with the adjudicating panel.
The UCC team represent Ireland at the global finals in Chengdu, China, July 23rd/24th where they will compete against 17 winning teams including Australia, China, Malaysia, Russia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa and the UK.
