She has led strategic initiatives, including the development of the Modern Library Services vision, procurement of a new Library Services Platform, and the Library’s Race Equality Action Plan. Liz also chaired the Sustainability and Climate Change Steering Group, which resulted in the publication of the British Library’s first ever Sustainability and Climate Change Strategy.

Previously, she was Director of Library and Information Services, and later the Director of Student and Library Services at Teesside University (2008-2018). Earlier in her career, she worked in libraries in the University of Salford, East London University and London South Bank University.  She is a member of the editorial board of the New Review of Academic Librarianship.  Liz is currently a Governor of the University of Portsmouth and a former chair of the Executive Board of SCONUL (Society of College, National and University Libraries; the professional association for academic and research libraries in the UK and Ireland).

“Liz’s passion lies in higher education and we look forward in welcoming her to UCC” commented, Professor John O’Halloran, President of UCC.

“I’m thrilled to be joining UCC. UCC Library has a reputation for excellence across Ireland and internationally. I look forward to building on the work of my predecessor Coral Black and the team, delivering the new library strategy to transform library services, and I very much look forward to working with colleagues, and collaborating with partners across the sector, for the benefit of our students and researchers,” said Liz Jolly.

“We have exciting plans for UCC Library and Liz brings a strong track-record in library leadership which will secure our library services for our students and research community,” said Professor Paul McSweeney, Vice- President for Learning & Teaching at UCC.
