University College Cork (UCC) and leading Law firm Arthur Cox LLP have announced the renewal of their legal scholarship programme.

The Arthur Cox UCC Law Scholarships will support 40 law students at UCC who face economic and societal barriers to participating fully in their studies. The scholarships are available for three academic years, starting with this current academic year and will provide assistance to students looking to pursue a career in law.

Commenting on the launch of the scholarships, Geoff Moore, Managing Partner, Arthur Cox LLP, said “We are very pleased to support these scholarships in conjunction with UCC. In order to fully encourage diversity in the legal profession, we need to remove the barriers to education. Our aim with these scholarships is to ensure that law students in UCC are able to participate fully in college life and that they have the necessary supports to help them on their career path in law.”

Professor John O’Halloran, President of UCC, commented: “At UCC, promoting equal opportunities and breaking down barriers to education is a priority for us. We are very grateful to Arthur Cox for their generous support provided through The Arthur Cox UCC Law Scholarships which will provide much-needed support to our law students and we look forward to seeing the positive impact they will have on our students' lives.”

The Arthur Cox UCC Law Scholarships demonstrate the commitment of Arthur Cox LLP and University College Cork to promoting diversity and equal opportunities in the legal profession, and are worth a total of €180,000 over the course of the three academic years. They will be available to law students registered with the Access UCC Plus+ Programme at the University. For more information on the Arthur Cox UCC Law Scholarships contact Access UCC Plus+.
