Careers in geoscience

Do you want to know how the world works?
Do you want to discover solutions to global problems?
Do you want to shape the future?
Yes?
A career in geoscience is for you.
Climate – Sustainable energies – Natural hazards – Life – Water:
Geoscience affects every one of us, and every living thing on the planet.

Our geoscience programme at the School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences explores all of these issues, and more. From the history of life and our planet, to providing for the needs of modern societies in a sustainable way, our programme gives you the the tools to shape how we live now and into the future.

What’s more, from Sept 2021 our programme will give you the flexibility to flavour your degree in one of three ways. The Environmental Geoscience path – if you want to focus on sustainability, water, pollution, soil, climate. The Palaeontology path – if you want to focus on the evolution of life and biodiversity on our planet. And finally the Geoscience path, for those who want a broad degree covering diverse aspects of geoscience. Our degrees feature lots of fieldwork and residential fieldtrips are a core part of our geoscience training.
