Dr Katherine Bond
Irish Research Council post-doctoral fellow
Postdoctoral researcher with the School of History, University College Cork, working under the mentorship of Dr Hiram Morgan as an Irish Research Council fellow. After an MA in Art History from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, Katherine completed her PhD in early modern History at the University of Cambridge on the subject of sixteenth-century costume albums in the reign of Habsburg emperor Charles V. Between 2018 and 2019 she was a postdoctoral researcher on the Swiss National Foundation-funded project “Materialized Identities: Objects, Affects and Effects in Early Modern Culture 1450–1750” investigating the materiality and cultural significance of veils in early modern Europe. Dr Charles C. Ludington (2015-17)
Marie Curie Fellow
Marie Curie Fellow from North Carolina State University. Chad researched Irish merchants in Bordeaux, preparatory work for a book on the wine trade between France and Ireland.
Dr James O’Neill (2013-15)
Held an IRC post-doctoral fellowship, working on the early modern developments in Irish warfare and completing his monograph – The Nine Years War, 1593-1603: O’Neill, Mountjoy and the Military Revolution in Ireland for Four Courts Press.
Dr Ruth Canning (2012-15)
Held Marie Curie Outgoing Fellow at Concordia Montreal and University College. She researched the Old English in the Nine Years War (1593-1603) whilst completing her monograph on the subject. Currently lecturing at Liverpool Hope University.
Dr Mark Hutchinson (2012-14)
Irish Research Council post-doctoral fellow, research religion and reform policy Elizabethan Ireland from Sidney to Spenser. This culminated in a monograph entitled Calvinism, Reform and the Absolutist State in Elizabethan Ireland (2015). Currently Fellow-in-Residence in Early Modern History at the Lichtenberg-Kolleg Institute for Advanced Study in the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen, Germany.
Dr James Ryan (2011-14)
2011 -14 Government of Ireland/Marie Curie COFUND Postdoctoral Research Fellowship, based at the University of Warwick and University College Cork working on 'An intellectual history of Soviet state violence, 1918-1939’. Currently lecturer in history at Cardiff.
Dr Paul MacCotter (2010-12)
IRCHSS fellowship
Held an IRCHSS fellowship the School of History. This involved a study of the lands, estates and temporalities of the medieval Irish Church from the earliest period down to the period of the Anglo-Norman Church. The fruits of this are due appear shortly in a monograph entitled Medieval Ireland: the lands of the Church.
