We are now inviting applications for ISTI 2024

To apply, you will need the following documents:

  • A 2 page project proposal describing the implementation research project you are planning (or already undertaking) that you will develop during this training. Note: papers longer than 2 pages will not be reviewed to ensure equity in the selection process.  References will not count toward the page limit. 
  • A current curriculum vitae (CV) (2 pages max)
  • A 300-word statement on why you are applying and what you hope to gain from the course.

How to apply:

Applicants must submit the three documents** by email by end of day (GMT) on Wednesday 25th October 2023 to hirh@ucc.ie with "ISTI 2024 Application" in the subject. **Please be sure to name all your files with your last name followed by an underscore and the type of document (e.g, Statement, CV, Research Proposal). All documents must be either MS Word or Adobe PDF files. 

Applicants will be notified of their acceptance status by 1st December 2023 and invited to register online with payment in full by January 23rd 2024.

Timeline: 

The online course will run from the beginning of February 2024 with the in-person training taking place in University College Cork on 1-3 July 2024.  

 

What to include in your project proposal:

Your project proposal should be 2 pages describing a D&I research project you plan to conduct and will develop during this training. We recognise that projects will vary according to the applicant's discipline or professional background, however the following basic elements below should be incorporated into the text.  

  • The rationale for the study including the problem to be addressed through implementation or dissemination research and its significance. 
  • Aims of the project  
  • Research design or evaluation plan
  • Methods or approaches to be used 

 

Target Audience:

The course is open to PhD students, researchers (including clinician researchers), health professionals and health service management undertaking implementation research or evaluation across health care, public health, and community settings. We try to achieve a balance of both junior and senior investigators, with the overall goal of bringing new people into the field of D&I research. Preference will be given to early and mid-career applicants who demonstrate experience in—or potential to— develop the field of implementation science in Ireland.  

 

Eligibility Criteria:   

In addition, to be eligible, participants must meet all the following criteria:

  • Implementation research proposal to work on throughout the course. This should be a project the applicant is undertaking currently or seriously interested in conducting.
  • Demonstrated experience and expertise in a health-related discipline (e.g., medicine, behavioural medicine, health psychology, pharmacy, nursing, medical anthropology, health economics, public health, health policy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, dietetics). 
  • Willing and able to pay their own travel expenses (round-trip, ground transportation, hotel accommodation, and evening meals) and attend and actively participate in the entire online and in-person training institute, if accepted.
  • Attendance at the in-person training will NOT be permitted for those who have not actively participated and completed the required online course work.
