Scoláireacht Sheosaimh Uí Longáin i Lámhscríbhinní na Gaeilge

The Seosamh Ó Longáin Irish Manuscripts Scholarship

Tá scoláireacht dochtúireachta (PhD) á tairiscint ag Roinn na Nua-Ghaeilge, Coláiste na hOllscoile, Corcaigh. Is fiú Euro 26,000 an scoláireacht seo, a chuimsíonn táillí €5770 agus an fuílleach i bhfoirm thuarastail a íocfar ar bhonn míosúil. Tá de choinníol leis an scoláireacht seo go gcuirfidh an té ar a mbronnfar í isteach ar scéim dhochtúireachta an IRC (Clár Scoláireachtaí Iarchéime Rialtas na hÉireann) i gcaitheamh na chéad bhliana. Ainm duine desna scríobhaithe Gaeilge dob fhearr agus ba mhó cáil sa 19ú haois atá ar an scoláireacht.

Is chuige an scoláireacht:

  • go leanfaidh an mac léinn do chúrsa taighde ar lámhscríbhinní na Gaeilge
  • go mbainfidh an cúrsa sin leis an dtionscnamh taighde dar teideal ‘Inks & Skins’
  • go mbeidh an mac léinn ina b(h)all de mheitheal oibre ar an dtionscnamh sin
  • go gcuirfidh an mac léinn le haidhmeanna an tionscnaimh tré dhul amach ar mhodhana oibre na dtaighdeoirí eile agus tré oibriú i gcomhar leo
  • go gcuirfear oiliúint ar an mac léinn sa teicneolaíocht speictreascapach a bhaineann leis an dtionscnamh i dtreo go mbeidh sí/sé inniúil ar leas a bhaint aisti do réir mar is gá.

 

The Department of Modern Irish, University College Cork, is offering a PhD scholarship to a suitable candidate. The scholarship is worth €26,000, which will cover fees of €5770 with the remainder to be paid in a stipend in monthly instalments. It is a condition of this scholarship that the successful candidate apply for IRC funding (Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarships) for the second and subsequent years of PhD study. The scholarship bears the name of one of the best and most famous Irish scribes of the 19th century.

The purpose of the scholarship is:

  • that the student pursue research on Irish manuscripts
  • that such research form part of the project known as ‘Inks & Skins’
  • that the student be a member of the research group attached to the project
  • that the student promotes the aims of the project by familiarising her/himself with the methodologies of fellow researchers and collaborate with them
  • that training in spectroscopic technology be provided for the student so that she/he may utilise such technology as required
