Implementation of SDG Indicator 6.3.2 in Chile
Hot off the press is a report on the Implementation of SDG Indicator 6.3.2 in Chile by Guillermo Arce, Alejandra Vega and Pablo Pastén from CEDEUS (Centro de Desarrollo Urbano Sustentable), and Daniela Fredes from DGA (Dirección General de Aguas).
This Implementation of SDG Indicator 6.3.2 in Chile report documents the application of the indicator methodology using an extensive dataset of over one million data records, and also how the methodology has been adapted to meet the management requirements of the unique water resources of Chile. The report goes further and highlights some key questions for further research, and outlines plans on how to expand and improve reporting in the future.
Not all countries can draw upon such an extensive dataset, but this report nevertheless provides some valuable lessons for countries looking to develop their own strategy to report on the indicator.
This report serves as a significant case study that demonstrates the value of the indicator methodology for national water management and if emulated in other countries, will go a long way to increase our understanding of water quality globally and help to drive us towards achieving Target 6.3 and Goal 6!
