Focusing on Stendhal's peculiar autobiography, Vie de Henry Brulard, this talk argues that taste is configured as a function of textual space. And yet, for Stendhal as for Agamben, taste is 'inappropriable', it continually escapes our attempts to locate it in the body, in language, or in our environment.
