The Cork City 48-Hour Filmmaking Challenge by the People's Picturehouse

30 Jul 2024

Over the weekend, July 26th to 28th, thirteen teams of filmmakers across Cork wrote, shot and edited five-minute films as part of the Cork City 48-Hour Filmmaking Challenge by the People's Picturehouse. The films were then judged by a jury of experts including Una Feely, Emily Murray, Sinead O'Riordan and Kenny Gaughan before being screened for all the participants.

Team Out of Frame picked up the top award with their film ' Ephemeral 5' and the film will go forward as an Official Selection of this year's Indie Cork Film Festival in October. The film was produced by Puttnam Scholar Alumnus Benjamin Rupprecht.

Many students and alumnus from UCC took part in the challenge including Kyra Owers, Lawrence Cooke, Ronan Murphy and Oscar O'Sullivan, while the event itself was created and hosted by many former UCC students including Jamie Hooper, Emily Terri Shannon, Andrew Wrenard, Conor Dineen and Adam Byrne.

The award was presented to them by Deputy Lord Mayor of Cork City, Honore Kamegni.
