Empowering New Generations, Advancing Gender Equality (ENGAGE) through Reverse Mentoring in Higher Education Programme

We are looking for mentors to participate in the pilot ENGAGE Reverse Mentoring Programme. Flipping the power dynamic traditionally found in mentoring, the ENGAGE scheme pairs women professional, research, and academic staff as mentors to senior leaders in HEIs to explore and contest the gendered barriers faced by women colleagues in higher education. As a mentor you will learn and exercise leadership skills; enhance your role, your team and/or institution; and experience mutual learning and knowledge sharing with your mentee.

Who can apply?

We are seeking women employed by the university who meet one of the following criteria:

  • Professional staff and support staff
    • Up to Grade 5 (Including but not limited to: Admin grade 5, EA, SEA, Technical Officers, Senior and Junior Library Assistants, Clinical Support Staff, and Junior Security/Services)
  • Research staff
    • Research Assistant
    • Research Support Officer
    • Post-Doctoral Researcher
    • Senior post-doctoral researcher
  • Academic staff
    • College lecturer A/B and B/B

When does it start?

  • The programme runs from August 2024 to January 2025.
  • Prior to commencing this programme mentors and mentees will be invited to attend tailored training in person on 3rd September on creating conversations based on sharing viewpoints and experiences, and online training on 8th
