EU TV Junior launches in Cork on Europe Day

10 May 2021

Primary school children across Europe will be able to tune into a new EU TV Junior channel, launched in Cork today, Europe Day. The EU TV Junior offering will be available on a dedicated Youtube channel and feature animated reports voiced by children for children.

It is the first EU-dedicated TV resource for school children across the EU. The uropean YouTube channel on European Affairs was made in Cork, and is the brainchild of a UCC European Politics lecturer and a primary school teacher in County Cork

Emmanuelle Schön-Quinlivan, a UCC Politics lecturer together with primary school teacher Trish Collier, are behind this innovative channel that builds on the pair’s award-winning work to develop the Big Friendly Guide to the European Union (BFGtoEU) in-class learning programme.

Features on the channel will include a ‘Guess the European City’ challenge and topics impacting the European Union institutions but also in countries across the continent including Ireland.

Already there has been keen interest amongst educators in France, Greece, Denmark and Belgium to using and adapting the EU TV Junior.

Educators are encouraged to share widely and subscribe to the channel.

A very happy Europe Day to all!
