Prof İnci Dirim is one of the leading experts on Migration Pedagogy and also a renowned researcher for German as a Second Language. In her lecture, she will present the genesis of Migration Pedagogy and discuss central terms and concepts that it is based on and operates with. The didactics of second language teaching will be used as an example for how Migration Pedagogy can be applied.

Migration Pedagogy is a way to examine educational and pedagogical practices in the context of a migration society. Educational institutions on all levels are confronted with people that are affected by migration processes in different ways, this includes (the experiences of) teachers and learners, therefore structures and practices need to be reviewed. Migration Pedagogy provides a perspective and a foundation for this conversation as it considers the precarity of migration phenomena.
