UCC celebrates graduates at summer conferring ceremonies

  • More than 320 candidates graduate from University College Cork.
  • UCC graduates join a community of more than 215,000 alumni worldwide.

Graduates in social work, criminology, education, integrative counselling and psychotherapy are among those who will be celebrated at University College Cork’s 2024 summer conferring ceremonies today.

More than 320 candidates will be conferred with awards including Masters of Research (MRes), PhD (Arts), PhD (Education) and Doctor of Social Science.

Addressing the graduates, UCC President Professor John O’Halloran said: “Today is an important milestone, a special opportunity to reflect on your journey so far and celebrate your achievements with Faculty, family and friends. We need your talents, your creativity, and your commitment to improving our world if we are going to find solutions to the challenges we face. Today, you will join UCC’s community of more than 215,000 alumni – we hope you will stay connected with us wherever life takes you next.”

Professor Cathal O’Connell, Interim Head of UCC College of Arts, Celtic Studies and Social Sciences, said: “Our graduates continue to pursue excellence in their fields, engaging and powerfully responding to the opportunities and challenges of our times, including social justice and inequality, education, artificial intelligence, communication and technology. We are immensely proud of your achievements, and we wish you every success in your future careers.”
