Free workshops for aspiring theatre-makers on Culture Night

- Theatre and performance practices workshops for young people and adults as part of UCC's Culture Night celebrations.
- Workshops are open to everyone with a passion for theatre and those interested in exploring further training.
Aspiring theatre-makers, creators and actors are encouraged to sign up for free theatre workshops as part of University College Cork’s Culture Night celebrations.
People of all ages are invited to join a wide variety of events across drama workshops, walking tours, 3D printing and much more from 4pm on Friday, 20 September.
UCC School of Film, Music and Theatre will host an introduction workshop on Theatre and Performative Practices to offer a taster of what it’s like to study theatre and performance. The workshop will offer people, aged 18+, the opportunity to explore their creativity across the full range of performance, including training in voice, movement, and ensemble work.
UCC Youth Theatre will host a workshop for young people, aged 13+, with an interest in developing skills in acting, improvisation, confidence through drama and performance. This workshop is ideal for young people who have a passion for theatre and are interesting in exploring this further through training or university programmes.
Fionn Woodhouse, lecturer in the Department of Theatre in UCC, said: “We’re excited to welcome young people and adults who are curious or passionate about theatre to our free workshops. The work of Ireland’s artists and theatre-makers reflects, shapes and challenges people in communities across Ireland and internationally. Theatre inspires us and helps us to discover who we are and where we are going. UCC is delighted once again to be part of Ireland’s celebration of culture in all its forms.”
There'll be free events for children and adults across the university from 4pm until 10pm and with a variety of food options on campus.
