Plant Sciences/Microelectronic Engineering

Plant Science

A decision was taken in 1994 to re-locate the Dept. of Plant Sciences from the main campus to a site in the UCC Enterprise Centre, North Mall. A new building was constructed to accommodate specialised laboratories, student teaching areas, offices, and growth rooms, together with the provision of 2 No. large glasshouses.

The Department of Plant Science occupied 2 floors of the new building and the third floor was allocated to the Dept. of Microelectronic Engineering. The total building is approximately 2,300m 2. The buildings vacated by the Plant Science Dept. in the main campus were subsequently demolished to allow the development of the Student Centre Extension and the Honan Square.
