UCC Confucius Institute and Cork City Council Host Dragon Boat Race

The Confucius Institute at Cork University collaborates with the Cork City Government to participate in the Dragon Boat Race On April 21, 2018 to coincide with the annual Cork Maritime Festival, a Dragon Boat Challenge was held at the Port of Cochry in the afternoon

More than twenty teams participated in the boat race. Through cooperation with the Cork City Government, some teachers from the UCC Confucius Institute formed a Chinese-Israeli  team, along with members of the Cork City Government, to participate in the competition.

The China-Estonia Friendship Team formed by the municipal government and the Kirkkon?? Institute made a huge effort, achieving fourth place in the competition.

The traditional Dragon Boat Race originates in China and has a history of thousands of years. The festivities were greatly enjoyed by the Irish participants and onlookers. Since its inception the race has evolved into a water sports event. And in many countries Chinese and local friends participate. Events such as this symbolise the long-standing cultural exchange and friendship between China and Ireland. The results of the exchange, the friendly relationship between China and Ireland continues to deepen. In the future we look forward to an even more successful event!
