Suoli ja tunteet

Congratulations to Dr Siobhain O’Mahony Lecturer in the Department of Anatomy & Neuroscience who recently travelled to Finland to present her work at a Minisymposium “Brain-Gut-Microbiome axis” in the University of Turku. The symposium was held by FinnBrain-a research project studying the combined influence of environmental and genetic factors on the development of a child.

The titles of Siobhain’s presentations were ‘Functional Gut-Brain axis-Can Gut Bugs Affect our Mood and Emotion” and “Early-Life Stress as a Model of Dysfunctional Gut-Brain axis”. Her latest publication on the microbiome is published in Translational Psychiatry and addresses the involvement of the gut bacteria in anti-psychotic induced weight gain.
