Note: Ex-soldier Donovan, a labourer, was mortally wounded in the abdomen in the attempted robbery of the Cork city GPO as he was delivering parcels there. He died the next day at the Mercy Hospital. He had served in the Royal Munster Fusiliers for three and a half years. His brother noted at the inquest that Timothy Donovan was 31 years old, married, in the employment of a fowl dealer, and ‘had no connection with any political organisation’. See II, 29 Dec. 1920.
