Fire Extinguisher
About this course
Use of Fire Extinguisher is a mandatory course that must be undertaken by all staff every 3 years.
The course duration is 1 hour and training is provided by Standard Fire. Training takes place to the side of the Cooperage building, in the North Mall Campus.
The aim of this course is to equip staff with the information required to extinguish a fire in the workplace.
Course Content
- The principles of fire prevention
- The types of fire extingiushers
- The correct use of the types of fire extingiushers
- Staff will be provided with training for the correct usage of equipment under supervision in a controlled live fire demonstration.
On completion of this course participants will be able to:
- Demonstrate safe use of different types of fire extinguisher.
- Understand which fire extinguisher type to be used on a particular fire.
- Be familiar of the location of fire extinguishers within their department.
