Serenade the City

Serenade the City

Sunday, 16 May 15:00

Serenade the City is an anthology of performances based around Cork and produced in collaboration with filmmaker Jordan Gough. Introduced by a personal letter read to someone missed, this event recognises the highs and lows of the past year. Sophia Wisdom will take us on her favourite nature walk accompanied by an at-home recording of a traditional Irish song, explore Cork City through the eyes of a resident while Seamus Heaney describes the nature of hope and take a front row seat to a studio session from the band, Lost Boys. Designed to bring a sense of simple joy to our new normal, Serenade the City will pull together found footage and audio with new work created during lockdown to remind us that though we are separated, we have shared an experience that has brought us closer to the people and places around us.

The Artists

Jordan Gough

Jordan Gough is a recent graduate from Film and Screen Media in UCC. He has been working predominantly in the ever growing Irish Hip Hop scene and just recently released a documentary titled Bonus Features with artist Alex Gough.

Lost Boys

Lost Boys are an emerging Indie band from Limerick. Lost Boys consists of Peadar Storey on Vocalist/Rhythm Guitar, Michael Meleady on Vocalist/Rhythm Guitar, Patrick O’Donnell on Drums and Peter Corbett on Bass. Lost Boys’ recent releases reflect their interest in acts like Glass Animals, The Academic and All Tvvins. Incorporating the aesthetics of nostalgia and youth, Lost Boys have cultivated a sound that is uniquely their own.

Sophia Wisdom

Sophia Wisdom is from sunny West Cork and is in her final year in BMUS at UCC. She is a traditional Irish singer, songwriter and teacher and she plays the harp, guitar, piano and bodhran and is often called upon by RTE to play harp for their services. Sophia is really interested in the healing attributes of music so is going on to do a Masters in Music Therapy in UL where she hopes to further this knowledge and help people as a result.
