A new EPA research report, "ClimAg: Causes of Fodder Crises in Ireland & Climate Risks" lead by Paul Leahy and team from Environmental Research Institute/University College Cork highlights key challenges facing Ireland’s farming system due to climate change.
The study projects decreasing grass growth, especially in the southeast, and identifies risks from the combined effects of drought and heat stress. To build resilience, the research calls for increasing stored fodder provisions and developing early warning systems. These insights are vital for ensuring sustainable farming and guiding better policy decisions.
