Brain-body interactions -

Brain-body interactions in health & disease: from molecules to mind

  • Understanding the bidirectional communication between the brain and periphery is viewed as crucial to understanding the pathogenesis of many of brain disorders
  • The group is using a multidisciplinary and translational approach to delineate the role of the immune system, metabolic processes, gut-brain axis and microbiome in regulating brain function

The crosstalk between these systems will lead to novel treatments for Alzheimer’s Disease, autism spectrum disorders, obesity, irritable bowel syndrome and schizophrenia in addition to giving insight into  their related co-morbidities.
