Staff Wellbeing

** UCC Launch of Embark - Managing your benefits just got easier! **

UCC is committed to protecting dignity and respect across the university. A new policy on the Duty of Respect and Right to Dignity Policy was approved in 2020.

The new UCC Strategic Plan 2023-28 details our UCC values of respect, compassion, and integrity. The appointment of our first Chief People and Culture Officer and the creation of a University Leadership Subgroup on People, Culture, Equality, Diversity and Belonging underpins the university’s commitment to creating a safe and respectful environment. Briefings on the Duty of Respect and Right to Dignity Policy take place on a regular basis and training is provided to both managers and staff in building awareness and understanding of what bullying and harassment is and how to address issues and concerns which may arise.

The Staff Support Tree which was developed in 2021 has been shared across UCC. All staff are made aware of the comprehensive and wide ranging supports available to staff at every training and development session organised by HR and at the regular staff events and activities which take place which include the President's Orientation and Information cafe held each semester and where HR have a presence at staff orientated activities including the Staff Sports and Social club. Staff Wellbeing is active in organising a monthly series of information sessions and raising awareness and access to networks and groups which promote inclusion and belonging including a Menopause Cafe and Carers Cafe. A Staff Wellbeing Week is held annually to raise awareness of key staff supports. Staff Wellbeing and Development work closely with the EDI Unit to develop policies to support UCC's culture of inclusion and belonging eg Fertility Treatment Leave Policy and Surrogacy Leave Policy.

All UCC colleagues are welcome to contact Anne Gannon, Staff Wellbeing & Development Manager or Susan O'Mahony, Staff Wellbeing & Development Advisor in confidence for any wellbeing advice and support.
