Prof. John Cryan
Prof. John Cryan is Professor & Chair, Dept. of Anatomy & Neuroscience, University College Cork and was appointed Vice President for Research & Innovation in 2021. He is also a Principal Investigator in the APC Microbiome Institute. He received a B.Sc. (Hons) in Biochemistry and PhD in Pharmacology from the National University of Ireland, Galway, Ireland and was a visiting fellow at the Dept Psychiatry, University of Melbourne, Australia, which was followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA and The Scripps Research Institute, La Jolla, California. He spent four years as a Group Leader in the pharmaceutical industry at the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research in Basel Switzerland prior to joining UCC in 2005. Prof. Cryan has published over 600 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and has a H-index of 146 (Google Scholar; Oct 2022). He is a Senior Editor of Neuropharmacology and of Neurobiology of Stress. He has received numerous awards including UCC Researcher of the Year in 2012, the University of Utrecht Award for Excellence in Pharmaceutical Research in 2013, UCC Research Communicator of the Year 2017, and the Datta Prize from FASEB in 2022.

Mícheál Collins
Mícheál brings UCC Innovation decades of experience in technology development and entrepreneurship across Europe and Asia. A UCC Physics and INSEAD MBA graduate, he assists deep tech creatives and venture scientists to form and develop companies that license and commercialise deep tech innovations. He organises networking and connection opportunities across the Irish Tech transfer system, and has a global network of investors, entrepreneurs and industry leaders.

Rachel O'Leary
Rachel has deep experience working at the industry interface within the private, not-for-profit, and public sectors. She joined UCC Innovation in 2017 and established the university’s managed consultancy unit, UCC Consulting, in 2019. Her role now focuses on enhancing UCC's engagement with industry, identifying collaboration and partnership opportunities. Rachel holds a BComm (Hons) degree from UCC, an MBS from the UCD Smurfit Business School, a Diploma in Digital Marketing Strategy from MTU, as well as a Diploma in IP & Technology Law and PG Cert in Commerical Contracts from the Law Society of Ireland. She has also gained her Registered Technology Transfer Professional (RTTP) qualification, which is the recognized as the international professional standard for knowledge transfer.
