About CPD at UCC
CPD is the systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of knowledge, skills and competencies, and the development of personal and professional qualities, necessary for the execution of professional duties throughout the practitioners working life.
Types of CPD at UCC
Micro-Credentials (ECTS) 1 to 30 credits
UCC now offers credit-bearing (ECTS) Micro-Credentials. These modules can be between 1 and 30 credits and can be completed outside of current programme offerings. In some instances, credits awarded for MicroCreds may be used as exemptions for certain programmes. It is important that you check with the programme director/co-ordinator if you wish to undertake a MicroCred with a view to using it as an exemption. CPD Offerings - No ECTS Credit Bearing Modules
UCC also offers a wide variety of CPD Offerings no-credit-bearing CPD offerings for professionals. These can be used towards maintenance of CPD hours / CPD points. A number of these CPD Offerings are accredited by professional bodies. Establishment of the Centre for CPD
The Centre for CPD at UCC was established in 2016 under the Office of the Vice-President for Teaching and Learning.
The Centre for CPD now forms part of the Micro-credentials Unit.
The Micro-credentials and CPD unit
- Provide a shopfront for Mico-credentials and CPD in UCC, facilitating registration and payment online.
- Implement policies and processes that support Micro-credentials and CPD development within the University and provide guidance to developers.
- Support the provision of flexible CPD for professionals
- Enhance industry-academic engagement.
