General Services Office Description

The General Services team plays a key role in the operation of the Buildings and Estates Department. Its varied functions aim to assist students, staff and College visitors. The broad and varied role of the Department requires a flexible and open-minded approach to customer service.

We focus mainly on ensuring that all operational needs are met on a daily basis e.g. providing an emergency response and security service, a comprehensive mail room service, implementing car parking policies, a room bookings service, a cleaning service and an inquiry/information service at Reception centres/areas throughout college.

We also provide support for recurring activities in college i.e. Examinations, Conferrings, and Honorary Conferrings in addition to support for non-recurring events.

This service operates from 08.00 hours - 23.30 hours, 365 days of the year. From 23.30 hours - 08.00, a Security Service for Main Campus and a patrol call service to off Campus UCC property is provided by contracted Security Company, Synergy.

The office report to the Director of Buildings and Estates and are funded through the financial allocation allocated to Buildings and Estates.

The General Services Officer and General Office are located in Buildings and Estates building.  The Duty Officers are in the North Wing and Lee Maltings and the Room Bookings Office on College Road. In addition, Services staff are based in the following locations - Reception Centre, Kane Building, Food Science Building, Bioscience Building, Boole Basement, Aras na Laoi, O'Rahilly Building, College Road, Donovan's Road and Western Road, Post Room, East Wing, Cork University Hospital, St. Vincent's, Enterprise Centre, Connolly Building and Lee Maltings.
